TIME TO CHANGE COMMITMENT
TIME TO CHANGE COMMITMENT FROM PRINCES QUAY SHOPPING CENTRE
Joining 1,400 other businesses, Princes Quay Shopping Centre has signed up to the ‘Time to Change Employer Pledge,’ working closely with Yorkshire Mind.
The Time to Change Employer Pledge is a commitment which will see Princes Quay focus on changing the stigma surrounding mental health in the workplace and providing daily guidance and support for members of the PQ Team.
This commitment is supported by a 12-month employer action plan founded on the principles of the 2017 Thriving at Work Report and built upon 5 years of evidence-based interventions researched by the Time to Change Employers Team.
Both the Employer Pledge and Employer Action Plan support the centre to put in place best practice and policies to enable staff to work in ways that promote positive mental wellbeing.
The action plan sets out clear objectives and includes ‘Mental Health Workplace Champions’ who will be focused on changing attitudes within the workplace and amongst work colleagues. The ‘Champions’ are an integral part of the pledge and will create opportunities to start up conversations about mental health in the workplace, dispel myths and make it easier for people to seek support. They will also run activities and events that will encourage discussions and engage with the stores and customers directly throughout the year.
John Magee, Centre Manager commented: “We spend a large percentage of our adult life at work and with 1 in 4 British workers affected by conditions like anxiety, depression and stress every year, we understand what a significant role this pledge can play in supporting members of our team. Signing the pledge is a declaration to our employees confirming that we will provide a safe and trusted environment for all to feel comfortable enough to raise any mental health concerns or issues, as well as promoting activities designed to support general improved wellbeing.”
