Lighthouse Family - 22nd February 2020
One of the largest British bands of the 90s – Lighthouse Family – will visit Hull next year as part of a major UK tour.
The band, known for the huge track ‘Lifted’, will visit the Bonus Arena on Saturday, 22 February 2020.
Tunde Baiyewu and Paul Tucker formed Lighthouse Family after meeting at Newcastle University in the early 1990s. Their 1995 debut album ‘Ocean Drive’ was a slow-burning success, going six times platinum while staying in the album charts for almost three years. ‘Lifted’ became one the defining songs of the era, a pop-soul classic that was inescapable on radio, becoming the soundtrack of high street Britain, drivetime Britain and night -out Britain.
The 1997 follow-up, ‘Postcards From Heaven’, featured three Top Ten singles – ‘Raincloud’, ‘High’ and ‘Lost in Space’ – and also went six – times platinum, charting across Europe, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand.
Their third album, ‘Whatever Gets You Through The Day’ (2001) produced another Top Ten single in the shape of ‘(I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be) Free/One’,
Fourth album ‘Blue Sky In Your Head’ will be released on May 3rd on Polydor and will include ‘Essentials’, all the band’s classic songs remastered for the very first time to celebrate their 25-year recording history. The lead single is ‘My Salvation’, a lushly melodic track every bit as good as you’d expect from the band.
Harlem Globetrotters - 27th February 2020
The world famous Harlem Globetrotters, featuring some of the most electrifying athletes on the planet, are bringing their spectacular show to the UK as part of their 2020 Pushing the Limits World Tour.
The Pushing the Limits tour will up the ante and create even bigger moments and memories for Globetrotters fans. New to this year’s tour, and never been done before, include:
Holders of 21 current world records, the Globetrotters will attempt a new world record live at each game on tour this year, hoping to add to their list of impressive accolades and innovations.
In many markets, the Globetrotters will also perform their legendary pre-game “Magic Circle” ball handling warmups in the dark, using a glow in the dark Baden basketball to provide the illumination.
The Globetrotters will celebrate their fans by introducing “The Fifth Quarter,” a free interactive post-game autograph session where fans will have the opportunity to meet the Globetrotters star up close and personal.
As part of the tour, the Globetrotters will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the four-point shot, a shot 30-feet from the basket which they introduced to the sport in 2010. The team will also bring back its popular “Magic Pass” pre-game event, which enables fans to come onto the court, meet their favourite Globetrotters for pictures and autographs, and even learn how to spin a ball on their finger just like the stars.

The Boys Are Back! Catch 5ive, A1, Damage and 911 at Hull’s Bonus Arena on 28 February 2020.
The boybands, originally made famous during the 90s, shot back into the limelight on ITV’s The Big Reunion television programme. Now they’ll be joining forces on a significant UK tour early next year.
5ive, consisting of members Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville and Scott Robinson, are known for their hits ‘Slam Dunk Da Funk’, ‘Keep On Movin’ and ‘When The Lights Go Out’. They won the Brit Award for Best Pop Act and also won MTV Europe Music Awards and Smash Hits Poll Winners Party titles.
A1 are a British–Norwegian boy band that formed in 1998. In the UK, they scored two number ones and six other top 10 hits. Adding to this, they also won a BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act in 2001. They achieved two number ones with the hits ‘Take On Me’ and ‘Same Old Brand New You’.
Damage are a British R&B band who achieved success in the 1990s with 11 hit singles, including four top 10 successes on the UK Singles Chart. They have sold 2.5 million records worldwide.
911, made up of Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Simon “Spike” Dawbarn, were formed in 1995 and released their debut single ‘Night to Remember’ in May 1996. This was followed by their debut album The Journey in March 1997, which was certified Gold. In their five years together, 911 scored 10 UK top 10 singles. They sold 10 million singles and 6 million albums around the world.
Anton & Erin - 13th March 2020
Anton & Erin, the nation’s favourite ballroom stars, are back with their brand-new show as they Dance Those Magical Movies live at the Bonus Arena on 13 March 2020.
With sensational choreography set to music that made it big on the silver screen, expect a Hollywood red carpet premiere performance from the UK’s leading dance stars.
Anton du Beke, is a British ballroom dancer, singer and television presenter, best known as a professional dancer on the BBC One celebrity dancing show, Strictly Come Dancing, since the show began in 2004. His professional dance partner since 1997 has been Erin Boag.
Anton has appeared on every series of Strictly, partnering with the likes of Judy Murray, Esther Rantzen, Anne Widdicombe and Katie Derham.
Thrilling live vocals from TV favourite Lance Ellington, a spectacular dance ensemble and a stunning 23-piece orchestra led by conductor Richard Balcombe complete the showstopping line up for this fabulous 2020 tour.
Blossoms - 21st March 2020
Indie band Blossoms have announced they will be heading on tour in 2020 in support of the new album Foolish Loving Spaces – including a gig at the Bonus Arena, Hull on Saturday 21st March 2020.
Special guests on the tour will be The Magic Gang and The Lathums opening the show.
Since forming in 2013, Blossoms have enjoyed widespread success and acclaim. Their 2016 debut full length topped the album charts for two consecutive weeks and went on to earn the band BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominations, while 2018’s Cool Like You charted at number 4 in the UK album chart, spawning the anthemic singles I Can’t Stand It, There’s A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls) and How Long Will This Last?
Paul Carrack - 27th March 2020
Paul Carrack is heading to the Bonus Arena, Hull on the 27th March 2020 as part of his UK tour.
Nicknamed ‘The Man with the GOLDEN VOICE’, Paul’s vocals have graced million selling songs such as ‘How Long’ by ACE, ‘Tempted’ by Squeeze and the Grammy Award nominated ‘Living Years’ by Mike and the Mechanics.
Paul Carrack and his awesome six-piece band take to the road again for their 30 date UK tour in January 2020. Having returned from touring Japan and the USA as a featured instrumentalist with the Eric Clapton Band, Paul is eager to get back to his own set highlighting not only the hits and collaborations with bands such as The Eagles but also songs from his 17 solo albums.
Carrack rose to prominence in the mid-1970s as the frontman and principal songwriter of Ace, and gained further recognition for his work as a solo artist and for his tenures as a member of Roxy Music, Squeeze and Roger Waters’ backing band, The Bleeding Heart Band, intermittently handling lead vocals on Squeeze and Waters recordings. He enjoyed considerable success as the co-lead singer (with Paul Young) and a songwriter for Mike + The Mechanics.
Carrack’s songs have been recorded by artists such as Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, Michael McDonald and Jools Holland, and he has served as a session and/or touring musician for the likes of Elton John, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, B.B. King, The Pretenders, The Smiths and Madness.
Rick Astley - 7th April 2020
Rick Astley is set to return to the Bonus Arena, Hull early next year as part of his Greatest Hits UK tour.
The singer – who will be supported by KT Tunstall – will visit the city on 7th April 2020.
After wowing crowds in Hull last year, the icon will be back with a bang, performing his all-time classic hits such as ‘Never Going To Give You Up’, ‘Together Forever’, ‘Beautiful Life’, ‘Hold Me In Your Arms’ and ‘Cry For Help’.
He is set to release the ‘The Best Of Me – Greatest Hits Album’ on 25th October ahead of his tour.
Elbow - 8th April 2020
U14’s Must Be Accompanied By An Adult No U14’s On The Standing Floor
Elbow will visit the Bonus Arena, Hull on the 8th April 2020 as part of their 22- date UK tour.
Having built a deserved reputation as one of Britain’s best live bands, they’ll be delivering their all-time classic hits in an intimate setting such as ‘One Day Like This’, ‘Grounds For Divorce’, ‘Lippy Kids’, ‘Mirrorball’, and ‘Golden Slumbers’.
The band will release their highly anticipated eighth studio album, ‘Giants of All Sizes’, ahead of the UK tour. The Lead track, ‘Dexter & Sinister’, attracted praise from NME for its ‘bluesy swagger’ whilst Clash heralded its ‘lucid grooves melded to an ominous atmosphere’.

Trixie Mattel will be heading to the Bonus Arena, Hull on 13th May 2020 as part of her UK tour.
Mattel is known for being the winner of the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and for placing sixth on the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Mattel co-hosts the web series UNHhhh and its Viceland follow-up The Trixie & Katya Show alongside Katya Zamolodchikova. Her first studio album, Two Birds, was released in 2017, followed by her second album, One Stone, in 2018.
Expect some music and surrealist comedy that only Trixie Mattel could hot glue together.

Strictly Come Dancing The Professionals - 19th & 20th May 2020
Following the incredible success of Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals 2019 UK Tour – which saw almost 6,000 fans pack out the Bonus Arena – the tour will return to Hull in 2020 for a further two nights.
Fans will be delighted to hear that some of their favourite professional dancers will again don their dancing shoes and return to Hull on 19 and 20 May 2020. Tickets for both shows at the Bonus Arena go on sale this Friday.
The 2019 tour was amongst the first shows announced for the Myton Street venue and proved to be hugely successful, selling out an evening show quickly resulting in the addition of a matinee performance. In 2020 the show which will return for two evening performances.
The two nights are part of a brand new 34-date UK tour which will start in Salford and finish up in Edinburgh.
The Strictly Come Dancing Professionals UK Tour returned to constant standing ovations and great critical acclaim this year, with the Mail on Sunday awarding the show five stars, exclaiming “this is a smasher of a show and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more”. The Daily Express awarded the show four stars, labelling it “breathtaking”.
A spokesperson for the tour said: “Don’t miss these amazing professionals as they bring the world’s finest moves to a venue near you, in what promises to be a Strictly fab-u-lous occasion.”
The 2019 tour featured the likes of Giovanni Pernice, AJ Pritchard, Pasha Kovalev, Gorka Marquez and Dianne Buswell. Dancers taking part in the 2020 tour will be announced soon.

Jason Donovan will be heading to the Bonus Arena, Hull next year as part of his ‘Even More Good Reasons’ UK tour.
The singer will visit the city on 6th October 2020.
Pop star, actor and a musical lead for several decades now, 80s icon Jason Donovan shot to superstardom as the blue-eyed, blonde-haired heartthrob in the Aussie soap Neighbours. In the late 1980s, the UK was in the throes of a serious case of Neighbours fever. The show was watched by 20 million viewers and Jason Donovan became one of the world’s teenage sweethearts alongside fellow Neighbour’s star Kylie Minogue.
The newly announced concert in Hull will see Jason perform Ten Good Reasons alongside some greatest hits that include Any Dream Will Do, When You Come Back to Me, Nothing Can Divide Us and Happy Together.
Simply Red - 7th October 2020
Iconic band Simply Red have today announced details of a highly anticipated 13-date UK arena tour which will head to the Bonus Arena, Hull on 7th October 2020.
Hailed as one of the most successful live acts ever to come out of the UK, Simply Red will be firing on all cylinders delivering their all-time classic hits from a stellar career, such as ‘Stars’, ‘Holding Back The Years’, ‘Fairground’ and ‘Money’s Too Tight To Mention’, as well as some raw and soulful new grooves.
Mick Hucknall has been Simply Red’s songwriter and bandleader since the very beginning in 1985, aided by long-serving saxophonist Ian Kirkham since 1986.
The current line-up has remained consistent since 2003, and the new tour will play to the core strengths of this fantastic band. “I want them to enjoy playing, for crowds to get up and move around, and everybody to put their heart into it. It’s all about capturing the groove”, says Hucknall.
The tour is also visiting some of the country’s biggest arenas with dates at London The O2, Manchester Arena and Liverpool Echo Arena.
