Fairtrade Showcase comes to Hull. PQ invites shoppers to discover something new and help change lives.

Hull’s Fairtrade Partnership Group and Faith in Fairtrade will be in Princes Quay shopping center tomorrow located on level 2 as part of a Fairtrade Showcase. Shoppers can discover the various Fairtrade suppliers in the city and get their hands on everything from arts and crafts to chocolate and refreshments.

By encouraging shoppers to become ethical consumers and be mindful of their purchases, the Fairtrade showcase aims to celebrate all things Fairtrade. Samsara Craft Store, located on level 2 will be offering shoppers 10% off a range of Fairtrade goods during the event. Shop Owner and Manager, Denise Harrison said:

“As Hull’s only certified member of the British Association for Fair Trade Shops, we’re incredibly excited to be a part of this event. We’ve recently joined forces with Hull’s Fairtrade Partnership Group, and we’re looking forward to bringing a bigger Fairtrade offering to Hull shoppers.

At our stall visitors will get the opportunity to see the faces behind our products and the Balinese families that make them. I’ll be on hand from 11am – 2 pm to answer any questions and offer advice about how to make more ethical choices. We’re looking forward to a busy day and hope for a great turnout.”

Fairtrade is all about working with people in the poorest nations to enable them to live in dignity and with hope for the future. It works by paying reasonable wages for the work that is performed, by respecting the needs of individuals, by committing to long term relationships, and by providing credit where it is needed most.
